Staff at Rainbow Learning

We believe in providing quality care and education. Three of our four teachers are qualified and registered, and have a tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education. Our fourth part time teacher has a NZ Certificate in Early Childhood Education (Level 4) and 20 years experience.

We offer a high teacher/ child ration to allow teachers to spend time in small groups with the children.

All of our teachers attend regular professional development courses in early childhood education through out the year to learn new skills and ensure their teaching is current.

Working at Rainbow with the children is very important to me. To me it is more than a work place.

I began working at Rainbow Early Learning Centre in 2004 while completing my Bachelor of Education (Teaching Early Childhood) at Victoria University.

My decision to become involved in Early Childhood stemmed from my desire to make a difference to the lives of children, who attend care and education centres today for the various reasons that parents and whanau choose.

In my own time I enjoy reading, baking, exercising, spending time with family and meeting with friends for coffee and a catch up. I have traveled extensively and I love meeting families from diverse cultural backgrounds.

My first love is working with the children and then in my role as head teacher.

It is my goal, as the leader of a teaching team, to promote collaborative teaching practice. We do this by sharing knowledge and responsibilities and by utilizing our personal and professional strengths and interests, to provide a caring, safe and stimulating teaching environment.

I am currently attending a weekly class to expand my knowledge and pronunciation of te reo Maori.

I encourage children to be active and I enjoy joining in on a game of duck, duck, goose, an impromptu music and movement dancing session or a quieter activity like yoga.

I enjoy creative activities and particularly enjoy working with children to stimulate their imagination and ability to think about how they can be creative and use the environment to support their play interests.

I would love to meet you and welcome you into our Rainbow family.

I have been teaching at Rainbow Early Learning Centre since 2009. My teaching career began when my own two children were young as a home-based early childhood educator.

I hold a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education), Diploma of Teaching ECE and full teacher registration.

I believe in providing an environment where childrens social competence is fostered through positive and reciprocal relationship with peers, teachers and others in their life.

I thoroughly enjoy the ability to work alongside children and to foster their own individual talents, interests and strengths.

As a teacher and a parent I love getting to know the children and discovering their unique personalities’. Its exciting and a privilege being on the journey with children and their families as through experiences they develop and extend their existing skills, give new ones a go and discover “I can”.

I see Rainbow as a community with teachers and families working as a team to enable children to be involved in safe, happy, fun and quality learning experiences. At Rainbow we nurture children, value, extend and marvel at their creative ideas. We also actively encourage children to learn with and from each other.

Our natural environment allows children to be involved in growing the food they will eat, to discover and follow the lives of bugs, butterflies and birds. Gardening and its connection to our lives and the world around us is a passion of mine.

I value the diversity that different cultures bring to the centre and believe that we can continue learning from each other throughout our lives. With Sonia I am attending a weekly Te Reo course to increase my knowledge and ability to speak.

After working part-time for many years in Early Childhood Education, I completed my degree in ECE and am now completing my full teachers registration.
